This guide is intended to give you an in depth knowledge of how to use our state of the art tracking facilities including a section entitled ‘Why’s And Wherefores’ aimed at the novice who knows little about using a tracking service, why it should be used or how using one can make the difference between a successful online business and one that all too often fails…

‘Why’s And Wherefores’
Most people join ResultsTracker.com for one of three reasons (probably all three),

1. To earn some referral commissions
2. To stop wasting money and time on useless advertising and
3. To save up to $50 per month on other tracking services available on the Internet

Even if you are just here to earn some referral commissions, or spending small amounts of time and money trying to sell a product or service on the Internet, you should be using our tracking facilities to help achieve just that.

Typical scenario: You decide to start promoting someone else’s product, service or opportunity; you immediately check out the sales copy, dash to create your e-mail signature, buy some ezine advertising and tell your friends by e-mail all about this wonderful new product, service or opportunity that you think is the best thing since sliced bread.

Shortly after, you’ve now told everyone on in your address book, spent your marketing budget on ezine articles and classified ads only to find nothing has worked. You don’t even know if the $100 you spent to advertise in ABC ezine, or the $200 you spent for that newsletter article, or the hours you spent submitting to classified ad websites even worked!

Why?

Because you failed to use a reliable tracking service…

You now (rightly or wrongly) decide the product, service or opportunity you have just spent your hard-earned cash (money you could have spent on your family or a good weekend away) does not work, no one wants it, it’s a load of old crap!!!

Fact of the matter is, that product, service or opportunity may have been THE HOTTEST thing available on the Internet, but because you failed to use an ad tracking service you will never know.

The reality is, you wasted your time and money advertising in the wrong places; problem is unless you monitor your marketing results you don’t know where the right places are!

There is an old saying: ‘Half of anyone’s advertising budget is wasted, the problem is, you know never know which half!’

By using ResultsTracker.com tracking facilities you can pinpoint with amazing accuracy, exactly which part of your advertising was wasted, which ezine failed to bring in a result. By taking this a step further you can even determine whether it was the list which failed to deliver or if it was actually your sales copy; it just wasn’t punchy enough, or said the wrong thing to the wrong audience.

The User Guide below will guide you through the exact route to use our tracking facilities and once you have the final statistics you can then determine whether it’s your sales copy or advertising source which has failed.

Use our guide to understand the principles behind our system. It’s very simple and once grasped, you can use the statistics given to you in the daily stats e-mail to ensure you waste no more time and money on the wrong advertising source. By then testing different sales copy to the same list you can determine what works and what doesn’t.


‘User Guide’
When first entering the Tracking Controls section of the Tracking Center your ‘Statistics’ page will greet you. This gives precise real time results of your current and past advertising campaigns. You will need to set up your tracking URLs as shown below, before you see any results on this page.

Remember an advertising campaign can range from simply placing a URL in your reply and outgoing e-mails from your own computer to comprehensive large and extensive e-mail campaigns consisting of hundreds of thousands of sent e-mails.

Start by clicking on the ‘Add/Manage Trackers’ on the navigation links at the top of the page.
First enter the URL ‘title’ in the box provided. This can be anything you want so you can instantly recognise this on the ‘Statistics’ page referred to above. For example if you’re creating a tracking URL to monitor your own ResultsTracker.com advertising you might want to put ‘ResultsTracker.com Ezine Advert’ in that box.

You then need to add the URL (website address) you want to track in the URL box. Using ResultsTracker.com as an example you would put http://www.resultstracker.com/track/yourusername in that box.

You then have a ‘Notes’ box, use this to enter as little or as much information regarding this tracking URL as you want, from the date used to specific information regarding the ezine, newsletter or article it is to appear in.

Then click on the ‘Add’ button, your tracking URL has now been created, click on the resulting ‘pointed finger’ and you will be taken back to the ‘Add/Manage Trackers’ page.

To retrieve your tracking URL scroll to the bottom of the page where is says ‘Get Code For Tracking URL’. If you have created more than one tracking URL use the scroll down bar to the right to specify which campaign you want, once you have specified this click on the ‘Get It’ button.

The next page will give you a URL such as http://resultstracker.net/t.php?id=23 - this will be your new tracking URL so instead of http://www.resultstracker.com/track/yourusername you now use http://resultstracker.net/t.php?id=23

Now before going any further I want you to put this to the test, create your first tracking URL by following the above instructions. Once done test the tracking URL you have created by putting it into your address bar on your browser and click the return/enter button. You will see it will take you to http://www.resultstracker.com/track/yourusername and more importantly if you then go back you will see on your ‘Statistics’ page that you now have an entry as ‘1’ under the unique column on the very right hand side of the page.

Entries under unique are the exact number of people who have clicked on your URL and raw entries consist on the number of times the URL has been clicked on, i.e each person might click on your tracking URL twice so the number on the raw column would be twice as many as that shown in the unique column.
By now using this tracking URL you will know how many people have visited your website by clicking on the tracking URL. You will know that if you just spent $200 to advertise in an ezine and you only have three visitors you know to either change your sales copy or to never advertise there again.

You also have two further functions on the ‘Add/Manage Trackers’ page, one is to edit your campaigns and the other is to delete your campaigns.

‘Add/Manage Split Runs’ – this section/service acts a rotator for up to three URLs i.e you can rotate click throughs to three different websites by using just one tracking URL and you will be given precise statistics on exactly how many click throughs have been delivered to each of the target URLs.
